Twist is operated by OuRNG ("Twist," "we," "us," or "our"), a sole proprietorship. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ourng.net and the Twist Studio application (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
Twist lets writers create interactive, branching stories ("Books") and lets readers play through them. Some Books are free, some are sold for a one-time price, and some offer a free demo with a paid continuation. Twist is the storefront and platform through which these transactions happen — we are not the author of any Book a writer publishes.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you may only make a purchase with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
If you publish a Book, you retain ownership of it. By publishing, you grant Twist a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, distribute, and let readers play your Book through the Service, for as long as it stays published (or as needed to fulfill purchases already made if you unpublish it).
You're responsible for what you publish. You represent that you have the rights to everything in your Book (text, and any images or cover art you upload or link to), and that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights.
We may remove a Book or suspend an account that violates this section, with or without notice.
If you believe a Book published on Twist infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with (a) a description of the copyrighted work, (b) a link to the Book, (c) your contact information, and (d) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized. We'll investigate and remove infringing content where appropriate.
Payments are processed by Stripe, not by Twist directly — we never see or store your full card details. By making a purchase, you also agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Services Agreement.
When you buy a Book, Twist retains a platform fee (currently 15%) and pays the remainder to the writer via their own connected Stripe account. Writers are independent from Twist and are solely responsible for their own taxes on that income.

Some Books offer a free preview up to a point the writer chooses, after which continuing requires a purchase. The free portion is provided as-is; Twist doesn't guarantee any particular amount of content will be free before that cutoff.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraud, or misuse the Service. If your account is terminated, purchases you've already completed aren't automatically refunded — see the Refund Policy.
The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular Book will always be available. Books are written by independent, often anonymous, third-party writers — Twist doesn't vouch for the accuracy, quality, or appropriateness of their content beyond the prohibited-content rules above.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OuRNG won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut.
